O.C. Athletes Advance in Junior Tennis

Fullerton’s Joseph Gilbert and Ryan Moore advanced to today’s semifinals of the boys’ 16 main draw in the Southern California Junior Sectionals at Los Caballeros Sports Village in Fountain Valley.

Gilbert, the top-seeded player, beat Los Angeles’ Robert Williams, 6-4, 6-4, and fifth-seeded Moore beat San Diego’s Scott Kintz, 6-4, 6-3, in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Huntington Beach’s Jakub Pietrowski advanced to the semifinals as the top-seeded player in the boys’ 18 main draw with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Whittier’s Kelly Gullett, and Villa Park’s Faye Devera won her quarterfinal match in the girls’ 16 main draw over La Jolla’s Elana Gold, 6-1, 6-3, to advance.
