CAMARILLO : Charity Board to Decide How to Spend $100,000
A board that distributes state money to homeless shelters will meet Mondayto discuss how to spend a recently received $100,000 grant.
Members of the Emergency Housing and Assistance Program board have put together a draft plan for allocating the money to help existing charities update their shelters. The board is made up of representatives of county charities.
“Now what we are hoping to do is get some public input so we can see what other people think about this plan,” said Beverly Viola, a spokeswoman for United Way. “We’ve listed our priorities, but this is public money, so we need to be sure that the public agrees with us.”
Viola invited those interested in commenting to call her at 485-6288 for a copy of the draft proposal. The public hearing will be held 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday at the United Way’s Ventura County office, 1339 Del Norte Road in Camarillo.
