Student Is Mourned

I am a librarian at Conejo Valley High School where Jackie Reay was one of my favorite students. She liked to read and was smart, funny, temperamental, outgoing and even ambitious. She had a future.

This is addressed to every person who saw her boyfriend with a gun and said or did nothing: You are equally responsible for Jackie’s death; you kept silent and she is dead. If you see someone showing off a gun, tell someone. Until you and your peers decide that it is not cool to dress, talk and act like gang members, this B.S. will never stop.

Jackie Reay deserved more. What are you going to do about it?
