SIMI VALLEY, OAK PARK : Schultze Resigning From Park Board
Debi Schultze, a member of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District board of directors since 1988, is resigning from the board, park officials said Tuesday.
Schultze is moving to Paso Robles with her husband, who has taken a job there. Her resignation will take effect Oct. 2, said park spokesman Rick Johnson.
Johnson said Schultze has been instrumental in promoting new activities for teen-agers and physically and mentally challenged residents of the park district, which includes Simi Valley and Oak Park.
Park board member Bonnie Carpenter said Schultze will be missed.
“She really has added a sparkle to our meetings,” Carpenter said. “She has a wonderful sense of humor.”
Carpenter said Schultze was expert at reviewing budgets and figuring out financial solutions as the parks’ resources dwindled in recent years.
Schultze’s term expires in 1996, and Carpenter said the board will probably appoint a successor from the community to fill her seat until the next election.
“I think there is a great deal of interest in serving on the park board,” Carpenter said. “But Debi is going to be hard to replace.”
