Harvard-Westlake Wins on Outside Shooting
When it mattered most, the Harvard-Westlake High basketball team didn’t look to its twin towers, Jason Collins (6-foot-10) or Jarron Collins (6-9).
Instead, the Wolverines defeated Notre Dame, 72-52, in a La Canada Tournament semifinal by going . . . outside?
Indeed, with a flimsy six-point lead midway through the fourth quarter, Harvard-Westlake staved off a Notre Dame rally by hitting three consecutive three-pointers. Ben Robbins made two and Ari Isaacson made one.
End of rally. End of game.
Harvard will face Alemany in the final tonight.
Robbins and Isaacson finished with 14 points each and a combined seven three-pointers for the Wolverines (8-0), who still had plenty of help from the post.
Jarron Collins had 14 points and nine rebounds while Jason Collins had 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Tom Zapata led Notre Dame (6-2) with 16 points. John Garcia added 12 points.
