PREP TRACK AND FIELD ROUNDUP : Philman Paces Edison by Winning Four Events

Marie Philman won four events to help Edison defeat Fountain Valley, 95-41, in Sunset League girls’ track and field Thursday at Fountain Valley.

Philman won the 100 hurdles (15.5 seconds), high jump (5-2), discus (127-7) and shotput (39-4). Teammate Kerri O’Bric won three events for Edison, which is 3-0 in league. O’Bric won the 300 hurdles, long jump and triple jump. Angie Winkler won the 1,600 and 3,200 to lead Fountain Valley (1-2 in league).

In another Sunset League girls’ meet:

Marina 68, Huntington Beach 68--Heather Cuthbertson won the 1,600 and 3,200 for Marina (5-0-1, 2-0-1) and Eilene Dunaway won the 100 and 200 for Huntington Beach.

In the Century League:

El Modena 99, Canyon 30--Courtney Lewis won the 100 (13.2) and 200 (27.1) to lead El Modena (5-1, 2-1). Teammate Kaylee Whitfield won the 800 (2:28.1) and long jump (15-1 1/2).

In the Empire League:

Cypress 73, Century 53--Freshman Lisa McCreary took first in the 400 (1:05.2) and 300 hurdles (51.1) for Cypress (3-1, 2-1).

El Dorado 72, Katella 50--Yetee Osunsanmi won the 100 and 200 for El Dorado (3-0), and teammate Heather Cunningham won the shot put (33 feet, 11 inches) and discus (113-8). Jamie Vaicaro won three events for Katella (2-1): the 800, 1,600 and 3,200.

Loara 79, Kennedy 42--Kim Lies won the 200 and 400 for Loara (4-2, 2-1), and teammate Cathy Hartman won the 100 hurdles, then switched to field events and won the high jump.

In the Golden West League:

Tustin 66, Westminster 62--Theresa Bard won the 100 in 13.5 and 200 in 29.0 for Tustin (1-2 in league). Stephanie Wilson won the 100 hurdles (18.3) and high jump (5-0) for Westminster (3-3, 1-2).

In the Orange League:

Anaheim 62, Valencia 52--Briana Malone won the 800 and the 300 hurdles to lead Valencia (2-2).

Brea Olinda 99, Western 36--Brea Olinda’s 400 relay team, consisting of Jill Huddle, Renata Soqui, Chantelle Johnson and Maika Nelson, set a school record with a time of 50.8 and Shalane Goodell went seven feet in the pole vault.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 74, University 53--Tiffany Boykin won the 400 and 800 for Laguna Hills (5-0, 3-0), and teammate Taayeba Haneef won the high jump and shot put. Misha Wilson was a double winner for University (2-1), taking the 1,600 and 3,200.

In the Sea View League:

Woodbridge 83, Newport Harbor 44--Jamie Swarberg won the 1,600 for Newport Harbor (2-1) in 5:28.2.

In the South Coast League:

Mission Viejo 71, Trabuco Hills 56--Freshman Ashley Bethel took first in the 100 hurdles (14.8), high jump (5-2) and long jump (17-9 1/4) for Mission Viejo (3-0 in league).

San Clemente 70, Dana Hills 57--Nancy Dollar won the 1,600 (5:21.0) and 3,200 (11:40.6) for San Clemente. Bobbie Burns won the 100 hurdles (16.7), 300 hurdles (49.5) and triple jump (32- 1/2) for Dana Hills (1-4, 0-3).

In Century League boys’ track and field:

El Modena 89, Canyon 47--Ryan Murrietta won the 400 (53.7) and 300 hurdles (42.6) to lead El Modena (5-1, 2-1).

In the Empire League:

Katella 78, El Dorado 56--Delonne Kelly won the long jump and the triple jump for El Dorado (1-2), and teammate Mike McAdam won the shot put and the discus.

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 75, Fullerton 51--Bryan Mahon took first in the 880 (2:12.5) and 1,600 (4:45.8) events for La Habra (4-2, 2-1).

Sonora 90, Troy 36--Willie Pigue won the shot put (50-3) and discus (147-9) for Troy (0-3).

Sunny Hills 68, Buena Park 59--Jeff Renaud took first in the 100 (11.2), 200 (22.9) and long jump (5-10) and Garrett Jensen won the 1,600 (4:43.1) and 3,200 (10:35) for Sunny Hills (6-0, 3-0).

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove League 89, Rancho Alamitos 38--Mike Balderas took first in the 1,600 (4:42.9) and high jump (5-6) for Garden Grove (4-0).

In the Golden West League:

Ocean View 77, Santa Ana 55--Jeremy Womack took first in the 400 (51.6), 110 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (42.5) for Ocean View (3-0 in league).

Westminster 71, Tustin 61--Leonard Ibarra tied for first in the 100 (11.3), won the 200 in 23.8 and ran the third and anchor legs of Westminster’s winning relay teams. Reggie Curry tied Ibarra in the 100, and won the long jump (20-6) and triple jump (43-5) for Tustin.

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 98, Western 31--Ryan Jaffe won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.9 and the 300 hurdles (45.7) to lead Brea Olinda (6-6, 3-0).

Valencia 80, Anaheim 46--Alan Manning won the long jump, triple jump, 100 meters and the first leg of the 400 relay for Valencia (2-2, 2-1).

In the Sea View League:

El Toro 82, Irvine 54--Phillip Oh won the 400, 300 hurdles and ran the anchor leg of the 1,600 relay to lead Irvine (4-2, 1-2). Irvine is 3-0 in league.

Santa Margarita 84, Corona del Mar 53--Matt Blasdel took first in the 400 (52.3), 110 hurdles (16.7), 300 hurdles (41.0) and anchored the 1,600 relay for Santa Margarita (1-2 in league).

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 78, San Clemente 58--Bryan Harrison took first in the 100 (10.7) and 200 (22.3) sprint events, Randy Hein won the shot put (48-4) and discus (148-3) and Steve Anstead won the long jump (20-5) and triple jump (41-5) for Dana Hills (4-1, 2-1).
