GOINGS ON : Greek Classics, History Film Among Offerings : The events are on tap at UCSB. Performances of Egyptian and Indian music are also scheduled.

Spring break is over, UC Santa Barbara is back in session and, as usual, the university’s various arts and entertainment departments have gotten a quick jump on things. Look for campus events sprinkled throughout the week.

First up is a presentation of the music, song and dance of Egypt’s Nile River region dating back to the 14th Century. The touring Festival of the Nile company will perform tonight at Campbell Hall. Show time is 8 p.m. General admission is $12, $15 and $18.

Award-winning filmmakers Connie Field and Marilyn Mulford will present their documentary “Freedom on My Mind,” a look at the Mississippi Voter Registration Project of the early 1960s, on Tuesday at UCSB’s Isla Vista Theater.

Combining archival footage with recent interviews, the film studies the drive to register African American voters in the South at the time of the civil rights movement. Field and Mulford will answer questions following the presentation. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. Tickets, available at the door beginning at 6 p.m., are $5.

Shivkumar Sharma, considered one of the foremost performers of the classical music of India, will perform Saturday at UCSB’s Lotte Lehmen Concert Hall. Sharma, a native of Kashmir, will play the santoor. He will be accompanied by Ahmed Khan on the tabla and the university’s Indian Music Ensemble. The performance will begin at 8 p.m. General admission is $8.

London’s Aquila Productions theater company will perform two Greek works Tuesday through April 20 at Campbell Hall. The troupe will present Aristophanes’ “The Wasps” with a rock music score on Tuesday and Wednesday and Sophocles’ tragedy “Philoctetes” next Thursday. All shows start at 8 p.m. General admission is $12 and $16.

Acclaimed violinist Gilles Apap and his Transylvanian Mountain Boys will play jazz, bluegrass and Irish, Spanish and Eastern European folk music in a benefit concert at 7 tonight at the Lobero Theatre, 33 E. Canon Perdido St. Tickets are $20 (in advance), $25 (at the door) and $75 (preferred seating and post-concert reception). Call 963-0761.

Celebrate Easter with an egg hunt Saturday at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. Hunts will begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admission is $10 (general), $28 (family, with a maximum of six children). Registration is required. Call 563-2521. The garden is at 1212 Mission Canyon Road.

Ongoing: “Earth Angels,” a collection of photographs of American migrant farm children, is on display at the Lompoc Museum through May 5. The collection is on loan from the Smithsonian Institution. The museum is located at 200 S. H St. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call 736-3888.
