Shooting Leaves 2 Dead, 2 Injured

Two people were killed and two others were wounded in a shooting police described as gang-related, authorities said.

Rival gang members opened fire on Eugene Alonzo, 21, and two other men about 10:35 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Sylmar Avenue and Valerio Street, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Don Kiefer.

The names of the dead were being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Alonzo suffered a gunshot wound to his buttocks and was treated at Olive View Medical Center in Sylmar. He was in stable condition Saturday afternoon.

The other men were declared dead at the scene.

A woman who was driving through the intersection at the time of the shooting was injured by shards of glass after a bullet shattered her windshield, Kiefer said. She suffered minor injuries.

There were no arrests. Detectives were continuing their investigation, Kiefer said.
