Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam War’s end, the Rancho Santiago Community College District has scheduled a weeklong series of events, including forums with war veterans and Vietnamese Americans.

“20 Years: The Vietnam Experience” will continue through Sunday, spokesman Dale Ruhe said.

Sessions will include personal perspectives today, including two panels featuring immediate and extended family members of military veterans who served in Korea, Vietnam and the United States; and student voices on Wednesday, during which students from the Vietnamese Club will discuss personal experiences in Vietnam before 1975 and life in the United States afterward.

The campus will also host seminars on poetry and literature dealing with the war, a film festival including movies such as “The Killing Fields,” and a display of a Vietnam War-era field medical facility.

All events will be at the district’s Santa Ana campus, 17th and Bristol streets, Ruhe said.
