More Charges Filed Against Teacher
Prosecutors filed additional charges Monday against a Van Nuys elementary school teacher who is accused of molesting nine students.
Jeffrey Herbert Raker, 47, was charged with two counts of performing a lewd act on a child, involving two students, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Rebecca Houseman. Raker, who taught at Hazeltine Avenue School until his arrest last month, previously pleaded not guilty to 10 counts involving seven other students.
The alleged victims, who are all Latino and from low-income families, were either students of Raker’s or members of a softball team he coached after class, or both, police said.
