OXNARD : Boys & Girls Club Planning Auction
The Oxnard Boys & Girls Club will offer a Hawaiian vacation, Beatles memorabilia, dinners with limousine rides, televisions, cellular phones and many other items to the highest bidder Friday during its annual auction.
Organizers hope to raise $50,000 to pay for the club’s main facility at 7th Street in downtown Oxnard as well as its two after-school sites at Lemonwood and Driffill elementary schools.
The Oxnard Boys & Girls Club provides youth training and leadership programs as well as a variety of year-round sporting activities. The club has about 1,600 members.
“It fills a great need out there,” said Irma Lopez, co-chair of the event. “And as we all know, these organizations are having a real hard time raising funds.”
The auction is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Lobster Trap Restaurant next to Channel Islands Harbor. Admission is $50 per person and includes dinner.
The club is asking for donated auction items. For information, call 488-5717.
