In other Sea View League games:
Corona del Mar 4, Woodbridge 1--Kevin Stuart hit his sixth home run of the season for Corona del Mar (13-9, 6-8).
El Toro 6, Newport Harbor 5--Ryan Ruiz singled to open the seventh, stole second and scored the winning run on a hit by Travis Vessels and error by the right fielder. The Chargers (12-13, 6-8) had scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score.
In the Century League:
Villa Park 1, Santa Ana Valley 0--Ean White doubled in the second inning, Villa Park’s only hit, and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch by Robert Serrano. Villa Park (13-12, 6-8) will face Valley (12-12, 6-8) on Thursday, with the winner clinching the third-place playoff spot.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 12, Loara 9--Trent Cuevas went two for three with four RBIs and Jerry Miller’s RBI double brought in the winning run for 10th-ranked El Dorado (19-6, 10-4). Miller’s double gave El Dorado a 10-9 lead before Cuevas followed with a two-run double giving the Hawks the 12-9 victory.
In the Freeway League:
Buena Park 8, La Habra 5--Timmy Jones’ game-winning, three-run home run in the seventh inning gave Buena Park (11-9-1, 7-6-1) the comeback victory. It was Jones’ third home run in his last four games.
Sunny Hills 4, Sonora 3--Sunny Hills kept its league title hopes alive and will play at ninth-ranked Sonora (18-4-2, 10-3-1) for first place Thursday. Josh Hochgesang hit his 10th home run and Chris Cook his first for the Lancers.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Aliso Niguel 5, Costa Mesa 4--Greg Ferrell doubled in the winning run in the sixth inning for Aliso Niguel (13-9, 8-6). The Wolverines moved into a tie for third place with Costa Mesa (12-11, 8-6). The teams will face off Thursday for the third automatic playoff spot.
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 9, Dana Hills 3--Second-ranked Mater Dei clinched its fourth consecutive league title outright. Scott Daeley and Mike Hessman each went two for three with three RBIs for the Monarchs (18-5, 11-3).
Capistrano Valley 3, Trabuco Hills 2--Paul Day (4-5) was two for three and pitched a complete game and Adam Petke had a two-run single for Capistrano Valley (14-10, 8-6), which plays for second place at Trabuco Hills (13-9-1, 9-5) Thursday.
