Fans Aren’t Sold on Raiders’ Deal
Let me get this straight. Al Davis tubes the good folks of Oakland, threatens the Coliseum Commission repeatedly and buries the nice people of Irwindale under an avalanche of rhetoric in that gaping gravel pit. Then he’s heading back to Oakland. Wait! He’ll take Anaheim instead. Hollywood Park is next up, but only if Hubbard coughs up a $20-million fur ball. And if that doesn’t pan out . . . ah, Oakland, sweet Oakland.
Then the most overrated football “genius” of our time has the audacity to state, “At this stage of my life I’d like to stay in one place.”
By comparison, nomads combing the Sahara would be considered longtime residents. And I’m sure they treat their camels better than Davis does his business associates and fans.

As a Raider fan, what incentive is there in supporting a team that can’t even call where they play home turf, and defends in a house of revolving teams? That’s why the New York Jets are a shell of their former selves. They have no pride in their roots. Jet players look at the Meadowlands as a place of work, not worship.
The Coliseum, with all of its faults, has been paid for with the blood of Raider wins and losses, and with the hearts of the 40,000 faithful. Why doesn’t the NFL just suggest sharing the Big A with the Chargers?

Cut the cord already. Mr. Davis is a grown man.
