SCC’s Le Loses in Quarterfinals at NAIA Nationals
Southern California College’s Quynh Le advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA women’s tennis championships before losing to Shu-Ping Lin of Brigham Young Hawaii Thursday in Tulsa, Okla.
Lin, seeded No. 11, won 7-5, 6-2. Le, a senior, was seeded No. 21.
In women’s doubles, Le and Wendy Andel, the ninth-seeded team, lost in the fourth round to No. 8 Brenda Kise and Amanda Trujillo of Auburn Montgomery, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Le and Andel scored enough points to finish 16th in the team competition.
The SCC men’s team finished 14th. Five of the Vanguards’ six singles players advanced to the second round before losing.
David Robbins and Mattias Johansson advanced to the third round in doubles, losing to Xavier Rodriguez and Guillermo Hernandez of Harding (Ark.), 7-5, 6-1.
