Share

Neighbors and police are seeking volunteers and business sponsors for a “Mini Operation Sparkle” cleanup project Saturday focusing on Panorama City’s business district.

The cleanup, from 7 to 11 a.m., will focus on an area of Van Nuys Boulevard between Roscoe Boulevard and Nordhoff Street.

Organized by the Panorama City West Neighborhood Assn., the Van Nuys Division of the Los Angeles Police Department and the the Panorama City Graffiti Busters, the goal of the event is to rid the area of rubbish, rip out unsightly weeds, eradicate graffiti and, in general, try to improve the area’s image.

In addition to seeking volunteers, the neighborhood association has asked local businesses to donate weedkiller, work gloves, food, drinks and ice. Lawn mowers, weed trimmers and pickup trucks are also needed.

All workers are promised a free lunch, and cleanup crews will also receive free T-shirts.

Volunteers will meet at 7 a.m. in the Ralphs parking lot at 8340 Van Nuys Blvd.
