Strapped Red Cross to Begin Fund Drive
The Ventura County Chapter of the American Red Cross is beginning a major fund drive next week to replenish its coffers following a string of natural disasters.
“We’re hoping to raise $2.5 million because our budget is really hurting after the Northridge earthquake, the floods and all the other disasters these past two years,” Red Cross spokesman Mike Goth said.
Goth said if the fund drive isn’t successful, the organization is looking at a $500,000 deficit in its annual $1.1 million operating budget.
The Red Cross is looking for cash contributions as well as volunteers to help in the fund-raising effort. For more information, call 339-2234.
