Were They Reading Same Murray Column?

Share

Thank you, Jim Murray [Sept. 14], for expressing the chagrin and the sad awareness in the hearts of mature college alums and football fans bemoaning the disgraceful evolution of the sport as featured by our large schools today. Correct that. The sport of football is still respectable, it’s the players now recruited by the largest schools that bring shame to what in the university world were once admiringly referred to as America’s “Playing Fields of Eton.”

I think it’s a hoot that Jim Murray attacked Tom Osborne and the Nebraska football team.

It seems to me that ol’ Jimbo is sort of irked by UCLA being thrashed so many times by the ‘Huskers, or else he can’t stand it when nice guys finish first.
