Cypress, Senior
Basketball/Forward
In the title game of the Troy tournament, El Toro tried a box-and-one defense against Boberg, who averaged 25 points in the first three tournament games. The Chargers slowed him down somewhat--Boberg scored 18 points on seven-of-11 shooting from the field--but his teammates picked up the slack and Cypress won easily, 59-34. “He’s definitely the key player for our team,” Coach Tom Gorrell said. “He’s just a natural scorer.” Boberg, a three-year starter, broke the school career scoring record last week. He now has 952 points in four seasons. During the week, Boberg made 54.8% of his shots from the field and made all nine of his free throws.
