A 14-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Tuesday after he ran into a parked car door, fell, and was hit by another car, police said.

The teenager was riding east along the parking lane on Coast Highway just before 6 p.m. when he ran into a car door that opened in front of him, Newport Beach police said.

A 58-year-old driver, who parked along the highway between Marigold and Marguerite avenues, unknowingly opened his car door as the teenager approached from behind.
