In their fourth crackdown on drunk and unlicensed drivers this year, Oxnard police kicked off the Memorial Day weekend Friday with checkpoints that stopped 1,114 vehicles but turned up no intoxicated motorists.

One driver was arrested for having an illegal weapon and another for an outstanding warrant, according to police. The checkpoints were on Channel Islands Boulevard and Ventura Road.

A total of 24 drivers were cited for license and other vehicle code violations, and 12 cars were towed.
