Abilene Christian ran away with the men’s and women’s titles in the NCAA Division II national championships at UC Riverside.

In the men’s team race, Abilene Christian ended St. Augustine’s seven-year streak as champion with 149 points. St. Augustine’s was runner-up with 77 1/2 points, and also finished second to Abilene Christian in the women’s meet, 136-86.

Tambi Wenj of Cal State Los Angeles, a graduate of Fountain Valley High School, won the shot put with a 63-feet, 5-inch effort, a school record. Martha Pinto of Cal State LA, a Katella High graduate, placed fourth in the women’s 5,000 with a time of 17:02. She placed third Thursday in the 10,000.
