U.S. Women Finish With 60-1 Record

Lisa Fernandez, a former UCLA pitcher, had a perfect game in the opener of the doubleheader at Decatur, Ga., beating the Atlanta All-Stars, 9-0; and Michelle Smith followed with a one-hitter for the U.S. Olympic softball team, which also beat the Tennessee All-Stars, 2-0, and finished the U.S. pre-Olympic tour with a 60-1 record.

Neither Fernandez nor Smith gave up an earned run during the tour in 13 starts apiece. The U.S. team, the heavy favorite for the gold medal at Atlanta, outscored its opponents, 441-3.
