Obituaries : Corrine A. Martinez; Longtime Ventura Resident
Corrine Aurora “Connie” Martinez, a longtime Ventura resident, died Saturday. She was 75.
Born in Santa Maria, Martinez attended Santa Barbara High School and later moved with her family to Ventura in the late 1930s.
In 1944, she married Willie Martinez, a mason, who died in May.
Martinez will best be remembered for her love of children, her daughter-in-law, Irene Martinez, said.
“She loved taking care of children,” Irene said. “It was her special delight. She loved baby-sitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special touch with babies.”
Martinez was a particularly religious woman as well, Irene said.
“She always prayed for everybody, particularly for those in need,” she said.
Martinez is also survived by her sons George, Billy and Danny Martinez, all of Ventura; daughters Nancy Cuestas of Montebello and Belinda Bartsch of Buenavista, Colo., and sisters Ethel Dally and Irene Morales of Ventura and Rosalie Hernandez of Santa Barbara.
Funeral services are planned for Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home.
