The U.S. women’s eight qualified for Sunday’s final, but it waited until the last 100 meters before making its move and catching Canada to win the repechage by .32 of a second at Gainesville, Ga.

Three of four U.S. crews racing in Wednesday’s repechages advanced to semifinals, with only the women’s quad failing to qualify in the sculls. The American lightweight coxless four qualified by winning its heat easily.

Tom Auth and Steve Peterson overcame a slow start and grabbed the lead by the 1,000-meter mark in winning their lightweight men’s double sculls repechage.
