Clifford F. Tousignant of Oak View, a retired school bus driver, has died. He was 71.

Tousignant was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Minominee, Mich.

The 48-year resident of Ventura County served in the Navy, and then spent 32 years behind the wheel of a school bus, transporting children for the Ventura Unified School District.

“He drove for a long time and he was really well liked,” said his son, Roger, of Oak View.

Tousignant retired in 1980 and enjoyed spending time fishing.

He was a member of Ojai Valley and Oak View Moose lodges and American Legion Post 686 in Oak View. He was also a member of the 40/8 honor society, the name of which refers to the way men and horses were carried across the country during World War I--40 men or eight horses to a boxcar.

Tousignant is also survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna; daughters Judy Hon of Ventura, Linda Chase of Ventura and Leanne Kennedy of Richmond, Texas; sister Pat Jenkins of Carney, Mich.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ojai Unified Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Underwood officiating. Burial will be private.

Friends may visit the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Tousignant’s name be made to the Ventura County Heart Assn. or Ojai United Methodist Church.
