Are They Jealous of Tiger’s Talent?
Re: Mike Downey’s column of Sept. 27 (Watch It Tiger, You’re Teeing Them Off)
According to some of his fellow pro golfers, 20-year-old Tiger Woods isn’t supposed to get mentally exhausted after playing in the amateur championship, a couple of days that consisted of 36 holes, and in three pro tournaments. Maybe some of these has-been and never-were golfers are just envious of the kid.
One thing is for sure, not many of those people who bought tickets for that tournament were coming to see Curtis Strange or Larry Mize . . . get use to it, guys. Tiger is for real and he is doing for golf what Jackie Robinson did for baseball: creating more opportunities for minorities to attain golf scholarships and play on the tour.
