Police Seek Gang Members in Beating
Police were still searching Monday for about a dozen suspected gang members who allegedly beat a 37-year-old Simi Valley man in an unprovoked attack Sunday on a bike path along the Arroyo Simi.
The man, whose name was withheld by police, was riding his bicycle east of Pride Street about 5:15 p.m. when he was attacked, said Simi Valley Police Lt. Tony Harper.
The youths allegedly shouted gang slogans when they attacked the man after a brief exchange of words, Harper said.
During the beating, one gang member grabbed a large rock and hit the man over the head. The victim was able to get away but suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to Simi Valley Hospital, Harper said.
The man remained hospitalized late Monday, and none of the youths had been arrested, police said.
