Sheriff’s investigators are looking for 13 men and women who crashed a baptismal party in unincorporated Whittier early Sunday and attacked guests.

Six people suffered stab wounds in the 1 a.m. struggle, two of whom were also shot minutes later when some of the assailants returned to the party in the 11400 block of Dicky Street, Sgt. Robert Stoneman said. Victims were taken to three area hospitals, where they were listed in stable condition. None of the victims’ names were released.

“We don’t know why it escalated [or] why these people even came and crashed the party,” Stoneman said. He added that the incident did not appear to be gang-related.
