Re: “Itching for a Vacation” (Oct. 27). I feel this article was very unfair to the Bahamas regarding the insect problem experienced by the writer.

I have made more than 30 separate visits to the Bahamas over the years and only experienced any kind of biting insect problem on one trip. I think this has a lot to do with the time of year that you visit. The majority of my visits were not in the summer but the one with the insect problem was in August. At the time, I was told by the locals that the condition was far worse than normal during the summer because of weather conditions.
