A 19-year-old Westminster man was in custody Friday on murder charges in connection with an assault that police believe was gang-related.

Andres Badillo was arrested Thursday shortly after the 8:23 p.m. shooting that left 19-year-old Daniel Valdez dead of a gunshot to the chest, police said.

According to Westminster police, Badillo and two other men drove up to a house on Homer Street and opened fire with an AK47 assault rifle, striking Valdez and two other men.

According to police, the suspects fired numerous rounds from the assault rifle, which was later recovered. Two suspects remain at large.

Police described them as 20 years old, one with short hair and one with a shaved head.

Badillo was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail.
