Parker Wins Inaugural Pacific Golf Tour Event
Perry Parker of Dana Point won the inaugural event of the Pacific Golf Tour Friday at Steele Canyon Golf Course at Jamul in San Diego County.
Two Orange County touring professionals--John Burckle of Aliso Viejo and Mike Miles of Huntington Beach--have started the tour as an alternative to the Golden State Tour, the Southland’s preeminent mini-tour.
Parker, a former UC Irvine standout, shot two-under-par 69 and beat Brad Gallagher of Valencia in a one-hole playoff.
Parker won $1,250; Gallagher won $950. Steve Runge of Mission Viejo shot 70 and finished third. Mike Sugar of Anaheim, Kent Wiese of Huntington Beach and Kirk Rose of San Clemente each shot 71 and won $346 for finishing in a tie for fourth with three others.
The Steele Canyon course Monday will host qualifying for next week’s Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines.
