Council to Examine Improvement Plan

Share

The Ventura City Council will hold the first of two study sessions Monday to discuss a city capital improvement plan meant to last through the year 2002.

The proposal will present the remaining five years of the 1996-2002 plan adopted by the council in April 1996. Although the overall plan has been approved, funds must be balanced each year.

Laid out in a thick binder, the preliminary plan resolves existing CIP general fund deficits; summarizes funding for existing projects; establishes a plan for fiscal year 1997-98, including new projects; and highlights projects expected to make significant progress in the upcoming fiscal year.

There are 15 projects that will receive primary attention this year.

A few of the priority projects are the Olivas Park Drive extension from Perkin Avenue to the golf course; the Seaward Avenue beach restaurants; seismic bridge improvements; and upgrades to Fire Stations Nos. 3 and 4.

The second study session will be held March 10. On March 24, the council is scheduled to hold a public hearing before adopting the plan.
