My Favorite Weekend
Friday night: A ride on the Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier with my beloved Ian. The view is incredible and it’s very romantic. Then a walk to Ocean Avenue Seafood, where even a vegetarian like me can find plenty to enjoy.
Saturday morning: A mountain bike ride starting at Paseo Miramar in Pacific Palisades and extending through Trippet Ranch in Topanga, followed by breakfast at A Votre Sante in Brentwood.
Saturday afternoon: A visit to the Museum of Tolerance or a trip to Exposition Park for an Imax film.
Saturday night: We head to one of L.A.’s revival movie houses, such as the Nuart.
Sunday morning: A trail run up Santa Ynez Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains, followed by a big brunch. The best blueberry corn cakes since Axe closed can be found at Pure Energy Cafe inside the Palisades’ Pacific Athletic Club.
Sunday afternoon: A nap.
Sunday night: We catch Jason Stuart at the Laugh Factory or the Improv. Hysterics cause low blood sugar, so we stop at Deedee Reese in Westwood for cookies or Babalu on Montana for any (or all) of their desserts.
