Billboard Presents: Family Lullaby Classics. Kid Rhino. CD: $9.99; cassette: $6.98. (800) 432-0020. There’s nothing tired about this welcome return visit to some exquisite quiet-time songs from family movies and stage shows. Beginning and ending with Danny Kaye (“Inchworm” and “I’ll Take You Dreaming”), the collection includes Peggy Lee singing “La La Lu” (“Lady and the Tramp”), cabaret luminary Michael Feinstein in “Pure Imagination” (“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”) and many other memorable sweet and dreamy tunes.

Somebody Bit the Moon. Amused Productions. CD: $10.98. (909) 625-3169. With his gravelly, bluesy voice, musical expertise and gift for thought-inspiring, clever humor, performer-songwriter Sherban Cira serves up a feast of fun with his children’s album for ages 2 to 8.

Among the 20 delightful tunes, a few highlights: the title song, a toothy spin on the moon’s waxing and waning; “Animal Blues,” an interspecies communique--”Don’t you step on me, brother, let’s be good to one another”; and “Beebop-A-Loula and the Bumble Bee,” about a dog, a bullfrog and a bee who learn to “party down,” but not so Mom and Dad have to worry.

Hunk-Ta Bunk-Ta Gnu. Kiddie Korral Records. CD: $14.95; cassette: $11.95 (both include activity guide). (800) 322-8433. Pronouns, synonyms and letter sounds are turned into musical fun by award-winning children’s songster Katherine Dines in these imaginative, comic and educational songs for ages 4 and up. Vowels get a workout in “Oodles and Oodles of Noodles,” adjectives are memorable in “The Very Scary Hairy Bear” and, although rap rhythms have become almost obligatory in children’s music today, Dines uses the style to terrific effect in “Let’s PPPPPP-Punctuate!”

Cookin’. GMR Records. CD: $14.98; cassette: $9.98. (800) 541-9904. Veteran children’s singer Gary Rosen continues his quality mix of life lessons and silly fun in this well-produced grab bag of ear-ticklers done in assorted upbeat musical styles and rhythms. Aided and abetted by arranger-producer-musician T-Bone Wolk, Carly Simon and other musicians, Rosen warns listeners to “Eat Your Food, Don’t Wear It,” while helpfully pointing out that “spaghetti makes a silly wig” and “a bagel makes a belly button.” Also included, among other things, are the joys of “Blackberry Pickin’ ” and “Chocolate,” the miracle of “Kelly the Caterpillar” and the comfort of a timely “It’s OK,” for scary moments.
