Share

Book lovers, magazine freaks and librarians are invited to apply for a spot on the newly formed Library Advisory Committee.

The committee will replace the Library Advisory Board, which was dissolved Monday after 117 years.

Applicants must be Ventura residents or business owners, or library professionals working in Ventura. The five-member committee will advise the City Council on a number of issues, including whether to drop out of the county library system, consolidation of library facilities and hours of service.

The committee will determine its meeting schedule once new members are selected. Meetings will be held at City Hall, and appointments will be for terms ranging from one to three years.

Interested residents can obtain an application and a brochure of the city’s Citizen Advisory Group by calling 654-7827, or by stopping by the council’s City Hall office in Room 205, 501 Poli St.

The deadline for applications is May 2.
