No. 9 Aliso Niguel Dominates Laguna Hills

Jason Mednick swept in singles as ninth-ranked Aliso Niguel beat host Laguna Hills, 16-2, Thursday in a Pacific Coast League boys’ tennis match.

Mednick won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, for ninth-ranked Aliso Niguel (11-2, 5-0). Chris Kan and Burton Gonzell swept in doubles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for the Wolverines.

In other Pacific Coast League matches:

University 15, Estancia 3--The doubles team of Scott Morgan and Jammy Yang won its matches, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, for University (7-3, 4-1). Mike Leonard swept his singles matches, 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, for Estancia (1-3 in league).

Laguna Beach 16, Costa Mesa 2--Jon Cohen and Shawn Macgillivray swept in doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Laguna Beach (5-7, 3-2).

In the Century League:

Foothill 18, Santa Ana Valley 0--Junior Jared Goodman swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for visiting Foothill (7-5, 2-1).

In the Empire League:

El Dorado 16 1/2, Cypress 4 1/2--Michael Peng swept in singles, 6-1, 6-1, for sixth-ranked El Dorado (13-0, 4-0). Charles Dao also swept in singles, 6-2, 6-1, for the Golden Hawks.

In the Golden West League:

Saddleback 15, Tustin 3--The doubles team of Raul Amezcua and Santana Ung swept its matches, 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, and Minh Nguy won his singles matches, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Saddleback (6-4, 3-1).

Servite 16, Santa Ana 2--The doubles team of Devin Haverland and Joe Ganahl swept its matches, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, to continue its unbeaten streak in league for Servite (12-1, 4-0).

In the Orange League:

Western 14 1/2, Magnolia 6 1/2--Rodel Valdez and David Heck swept in doubles, 6-1, 6-1, for Western (9-2, 2-0).

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 14, Trabuco Hills 4--Rob Hall and Chad Widtfeldt swept in doubles, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1, for visiting Capistrano Valley (9-2, 1-1).

Mission Viejo 11, San Clemente 7--Eric Bachelor swept in singles for Mission Viejo (7-5, 2-0), 6-0, 6-1, 6-0. Bachelor is 42-2 this season.

In the Sunset League:

Los Alamitos 19, Marina 5--Collin Boylan won his two singles sets, 6-3, 6-1, and teamed with Graham Nash to win in doubles, 6-0, for visiting Los Alamitos (9-1, 3-0), ranked eighth in the county and ninth in Division I.

In the Coastal League boys’ tennis:

St. Margaret’s 9, San Diego Francis Parker 9 (St. Margaret’s wins on games, 77-76)--Raphael Thurber swept in singles, 6-3, 6-1, 6-1, to lead St. Margaret’s (2-6, 1-0), which won two of the last three sets to edge Francis Parker (4-4, 0-1).
