Senior Days to Aid in College Transition

To ease the transition to college life, Valley College will host Senior Days on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Students from more than 20 San Fernando Valley high schools are slated to attend a series of workshops detailing how to apply for financial aid, career services and programs for disabled students.

A campus tour and entertainment also are scheduled.

The program for both days will be the same. After opening remarks from college President Tyree Wieder, Student Services Dean Yasmin Delahoussaye, Associated Student Union President Patty Tejeda and counseling department chairwoman Synthia Saltoun, workshops will begin.

Morning workshops will address topics such as transferring to a four-year college after attending Valley College, athletic offerings and programs designed to help Latino students.

The afternoon will be dedicated to the curriculum at Valley College, with workshops in subjects such as media arts, computer science, child development, fire technology, fashion design and more traditional areas.

Information materials will be available on campus at Monarch Square from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The college is located at 5800 Fulton Ave.
