New York Cabbies Take to the Water

New York by boat? Venice it isn’t, but starting May 21, tourists can take in Lower Manhattan and a bit of Brooklyn using the new New York Water Taxi.

Four 48-passenger boats will ply the East and Hudson rivers between the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum at 46th Street in Manhattan and the Fulton Ferry Landing under the Brooklyn Bridge. They will make nine stops on the six-mile route, providing access to the Battery (where another boat goes to the Statue of Liberty), Wall Street, the World Trade Center, Macy’s and Greenwich Village, among other sites.

The seasonal service will run through Oct. 19, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends.Round-trip tickets are $15 for adults, $8 seniors and children; an all-day pass with unlimited stops is $20 for adults, $12 seniors and children. Information: (212) 681-8111.
