Amtrak Says Its Chairman Is Resigning
Amtrak says its chairman, Thomas M. Downs, will resign from his duties running the nation’s railroad passenger system. It isn’t known when his resignation will take effect. “Transition details are still being worked out,” Amtrak spokesman Clifford Black said. Amtrak’s board named George Warrington, president of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor business unit, to serve as acting president for the Washington-based company. Downs has been at Amtrak for four years.
