Tigers Edge Red Sox, 7-5

Damon Easley tied the score with an eighth-inning homer and Melvin Nieves hit a two-run home run in the 12th Tuesday night that gave the Detroit Tigers a 7-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox.

After Boston overcame a 4-0 deficit with three runs in the fourth and one in the sixth, Wilfredo Cordero homered for the second consecutive game.

But Detroit tied the score on Easley’s 14th homer in the eighth.

After Phil Nevin singled in the 12th, Nieves connected with two outs off John Wasdin (3-5), who has given up 13 homers in 80 innings.

Todd Jones (2-3) held the Red Sox scoreless the last two innings.
