Group Gets Grants to Aid Seniors at Home
A Ventura County nonprofit organization that provides in-home support to senior citizens has received more than $10,000 in grants from three charitable foundations.
Caregivers: Volunteers Assisting the Elderly received $5,000 from Los Angeles’ Carrie Estelle Doheny Foundation, which has supported the health and welfare of seniors since 1948.
The group also received $4,700 from the Swift Memorial Health Care Foundation, which provides assistance to programs that deliver health services to Ventura County residents. Finally, the Amgen Foundation, the charitable arm of the Thousand Oaks-based biotechnology giant, contributed $1,000 to the group.
Caregivers has assisted more than 1,600 people since 1984, providing help with shopping and other household chores to enable seniors to maintain their independence and continue living in their own homes.
