Fire Erupts in Kitchen of Hollywood Palladium
A fire in the kitchen of the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday sent smoke pouring out of the landmark building, but 35 firefighters quickly contained the blaze, which caused little damage, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
Someone was apparently preparing lunch using the deep fryer and started the fire, said Alan Shuman, president of the Palladium.
The kitchen “now looks like Christmas” because the automatic fire suppression system discharged a white chemical to douse the flames, said Shuman.
“The important thing is that the fire suppression system worked, and the Fire Department was automatically called. Nothing was burned,” he said.
