Kids Found in Truck With Passed Out Mom
Officers found a Redondo Beach woman unconscious and on heroin in a parked pickup truck Tuesday with her 2-month-old and 4-year-old sons at her side, Anaheim police said.
Shannon Marie Toll, 27, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, being under the influence of heroin and possession of a syringe, Police Lt. Joe Vargas said.
A man who said he was with Toll called police at about 10:50 a.m. saying she had passed out, Vargas said. He was gone when officers found the truck, parked in a residential neighborhood near Mohawk and Dogwood avenues, Vargas said.
The infant was strapped in a car seat, the toddler was standing on the front seat and Toll was slumped beside him, not breathing, Vargas said. An empty syringe and drug paraphernalia were at her side, he said.
Toll was taken to Anaheim Memorial Hospital, then booked at the Police Department. The children were taken to the Orangewood Home in Orange.
