Umpire Focus of Ball Sale Probe
American League umpire Al Clark is the focus of major league baseball’s investigation into the sale of baseballs said to have been used in David Wells’ perfect game in May.
The umpires who worked the game were investigated and have been cleared of any wrongdoing by major league baseball, according to a source. Clark, who did not work that Yankee-Twin game, is still being investigated, a source said.

The Baltimore Orioles put pitcher Scott Kamieniecki back on the 15-day disabled list with a reoccurrence of a bulging disk in his neck.
Kamieniecki, who was activated from the disabled list July 25 after missing more than two months with the neck problem, was the losing pitcher in Friday’s 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He gave up seven hits and four runs in just 2 2/3 innings. Third-baseman Willis Otanez, called up from triple-A Rochester, will fill Kamieniecki’s spot on the roster.
