Saratoga lived up to its reputation as being the “graveyard of favorites” Sunday as Stop Traffic defeated favored Colonial Minstrel in the Ballerina Stakes for fillies and mares 3 and up.

Observers watched in disbelief as the favored Colonial Minstrel backed up through the stretch to finish fifth of six, ahead of only the exhausted early leader, Dixie Flag.

The start of the race was delayed for one minute when both Runup the Colors and Furlough broke through the gate.
