Kentucky Freshman Suspended
Kentucky freshman guard J.P. Blevins was suspended for one game by Coach Tubby Smith over his Sunday arrest on public intoxication charges in Lexington, Ky. He became the fourth member of the team in six weeks to be suspended.

After surviving two road scares, Connecticut’s men extended their margin in first-place votes in the AP poll from 53-17 over Maryland last week to 66-4 over Duke this week. The Huskies (8-0) earned 1,768 points, 99 more than the Blue Devils (9-1). Maryland (10-1) dropped from second to fifth. Kentucky (9-1) is at No. 3 while Cincinnati (7-0) was fourth. There were big changes at the bottom of the Top 25 with four teams--Auburn (19th), Wisconsin (23rd), Oklahoma (24th) and Iowa (25th)--making their season debuts in the rankings. . . . Connecticut (8-0) led a top eight that stayed the same and Santa Clara (7-0), off to the best start by a West Coast Conference team, made its first appearance in the AP women’s poll at No. 25.
