Pepperdine Remains Undefeated at Home
Sophomore walk-on guard Al Minahan scored a career-high 24 points as Pepperdine defeated Southern California College, 94-64, on Thursday at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
The victory ended a three-game losing streak for the Waves. Two of the losses came to nationally ranked Kansas and Wisconsin. Pepperdine (6-3) remains undefeated in five home games this season.
Minahan made six three-point shots and was eight of 12 from the field. Senior guard Jelani Gardner and junior center Nick Sheppard each added 14 points. Sophomore forward Kelvin Gibbs and reserve senior forward Marc McDowell each had 12 points.
Pepperdine shot 50% from the field and outrebounded the Vanguards, 50-28.
Sophomore guard Dennis Keane led Southern California College (4-6) in scoring with 24 points. Junior forward Kevin Bradley added 17 points.
The Waves play No. 14 Michigan State on Monday in the first round of the Pearl Harbor Classic in Hawaii.
