More Echoes of the Armenian Experience
Thanks to Mark Arax for writing about Fresno and William Saroyan (“City of Exiles,” Nov. 22). The article brought back memories of my grandfather, who arrived in Fresno in the 1920s from Hiroshima, Japan, to become a strawberry farmer at the corner of Polk and Clinton. The experiences of the Fresno Armenians, as captured by Saroyan, echoed the experiences of the Fresno Japanese community.
