Ass’ad Not Signing Players for Awhile

Share

As college soccer coaches across the country signed recruits Wednesday, Cal State Northridge men’s Coach Marwan Ass’ad is in a holding pattern because most of his scholarship money is committed.

After a year in which the program was dropped, reinstated for a season and then guaranteed to play through 1998, Ass’ad said he is waiting for recruits to fall through the cracks.

“The high school players we want, everyone’s offering them [scholarship] money and we don’t have much of that,” Ass’ad said. “We won’t sign anyone for another month at least, because [other schools] are talking to them and [the players] haven’t decided.”
