Spice-Influenced Reunion?: Recently split Hollywood couple Bruce Willis and Demi Moore were back together Wednesday night when they took their three daughters to a Spice Girls concert in Columbus, Ohio. “They seemed to have a really great time,” said a Polaris Amphitheater spokeswoman, noting that the estranged super-couple took daughters Rumer, 9; Scout, 6; and Tallulah, 4, backstage to meet the spicy foursome. Willis, 43, and Moore, 35, announced their breakup in June but have not said whether they will seek a divorce.

News Emmys: PBS topped the list of Emmy nominations for news and documentary programs, a separate entity from the prime-time Emmy nods announced Thursday. “Frontline,” “Nova” and “P.O.V.” helped the Public Broadcasting Service garner 27 nominations, topping CBS’ 24, NBC’s 21 and ABC’s 20. Coverage of Princess Diana’s death garnered the most nominations for the networks in the breaking news categories, followed by coverage of flooding in Grand Forks, N.D. Other multiple nominees include the Discovery Channel (11 nods), TBS (seven), TLC (six), Cinemax and CNN (four each), and A&E;, HBO and MSNBC (three each). Awards will be handed out Sept. 9 in New York.

AWOL Singer Found: Los Angeles police found and arrested troubled Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland--for whom an arrest warrant was issued after he failed to show up for a recent court hearing--but he posted bond late Wednesday and was given a new court date of Aug. 12. Weiland, who also faces a July 31 hearing in New York for alleged heroin possession, had been undergoing drug detox before disappearing prior to his original June 25 court date. The local case stemmed from a February arrest for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia; it was the second local drug case brought against him since 1995.

THE ARTS

More ‘Rent’ Signs: “Rent” will play at the Shubert Theatre in Century City from Jan. 20 through Feb. 28. Although the production may look like the “Rent” that was seen at the Ahmanson Theatre last season, the Shubert run will use the first national touring company, which started in Boston, rather than the one that began in La Jolla before playing the Ahmanson (that company, meanwhile, will play Orange County Performing Arts Center Aug. 5 to 16). Though the Shubert casting has not yet been settled, chances are good that the leading actors will be new to Southern California audiences, a spokeswoman said.

LEGAL FILE

Does He Really Want to Hurt Them?: A lawyer for the Boy George-led ‘80s band Culture Club is demanding that the Latino comedy troupe Culture Clash, which was also formed in the ‘80s and has risen to national prominence, change its name so as to not “confuse” the public. In a letter dated June 24, Culture Club attorney Jeffrey L. Graubart demanded that Culture Clash “immediately cease and desist” its “unauthorized use of Culture Club’s valuable trade name” or risk a lawsuit over the matter. Nina L. Shaw, an attorney for Culture Clash, responded in a July 15 missive that the troupe has “no intention of changing the name under which it has established a well-deserved reputation for excellence in political and social commentary” and pointed out that the group had its own 30-episode Fox TV series and has been featured on PBS’ “Great Performances.” Contacted Thursday, Graubart refused to comment on whether he would take the matter further, indicating that he would mull the options over the next “couple of weeks.” Meanwhile, Culture Club, the band, is on a reunion concert tour called “The Big Rewind.”

QUICK TAKES

A lawyer entered innocent pleas Thursday on behalf of veteran guitarist Robert “Waddy” Wachtel and his wife, Annie, who are charged with misdemeanor possession of computer-generated child pornography. An Aug. 6 pretrial hearing was set. The couple was arrested earlier this month after detectives served a search warrant on their Mid-Wilshire area home. They did not appear personally in court Thursday and have issued no response to the charges. . . . Actor Gerard Depardieu, whose blood-alcohol content was tested at five times the French legal limit when he crashed his motorcycle near Versailles last May, was fined $1,600 Thursday for drunk driving. The French court also suspended his driver’s license for 15 months. . . . Aerosmith has postponed the first 13 dates of its coming U.S. concert tour to allow drummer Joey Kramer to recover from second-degree burns he sustained in a freak gas station fire last week. The postponed dates--which had been set for August and early September--affect mainly the East Coast; local tour stops had not yet been announced.
